Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for reviewing incoming RFQs (Requests for Quotation), organizing and analyzing quote data, and preparing accurate cost estimates for customer projects. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams and vendors, material takeoff from customer drawings, and comprehensive job specification reviews. The Estimator ensures timely and competitive quotes are submitted to customers and supports project handoff upon award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review incoming RFQ data and customer documentation.
  • Organize quote information using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Generate material takeoffs based on customer drawings and specifications.
  • Thoroughly review all job specifications to ensure accurate estimating.
  • Send material lists to vendors to obtain current pricing.
  • Input all relevant data into the company’s estimating spreadsheet.
  • Collaborate with project leads (e.g., Mike, Chad, Lawrence, or Jason) to review and finalize quotes.
  • Submit completed quotes to customers in a timely manner.
  • Upon quote acceptance, coordinate and set up a Pre-Production Meeting (PPM) to discuss project details and next steps.
  • Create and maintain customer folders and relevant subfolders for project documentation.
  •  Gather and organize nesting data for material optimization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, or business field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating, project coordination, or a related field within manufacturing, fabrication, or construction.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
